Riverside County, CA (June 23, 2024) Sadness swept through Riverside County on Saturday, June 22nd, following a collision that claimed one person’s life. The two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and San Jacinto Avenue, just after 10:00 p.m. One person sustained major injuries in the accident and another lost their life, according to reports.
Minutes after 10:00 on Saturday night, as darkness covered the roadways, vehicles followed headlights through the town. Right around 10:10 p.m., two vehicles collided at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and San Jacinto Avenue. The collision sent one of the vehicles rolling over, reports indicated. The intersection was blocked by the vehicles and large pieces of debris following the accident.

The Riverside County Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the two vehicles, both with major damage. Fire fighters found the drivers of both vehicles trapped inside the wreckage and had to use specialized tools to free them. Ambulances were close by and paramedics were ready to rush both drivers to a local hospital to receive treatment. Once at the hospital, emergency medical personnel did everything within their power to save both drivers. Sadly, one of them succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other injured person was admitted and is said to be in stable condition, officers reported.
Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office began gathering evidence at the scene and are determined to understand what happened at this Riverside County intersection. Tow trucks were called to the scene to remove both of the wrecked vehicles from the roadway and crews cleaned up glass and debris as quickly as they could.
