Avila Beach, CA (June 24, 2024) A deadly crash in Avila Beach left the community shocked and saddened on Sunday, June 23rd. The fatal accident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on San Luis Bay Drive, not far from Sparrow Street. A male driver who was involved in the collision was arrested at the scene, according to reports.

It was 1:00 a.m. in Avila Beach on Sunday, June 23rd. As most were sleeping, a few vehicles continued traveling to and from their destinations. This was the case for one such vehicle, headed along San Luis Bay Drive. The vehicle had two occupants, reports indicated, the driver and a front-seat passenger. The driver lost control of the vehicle near Sparrow Street and the car went off the road. Details about the crash are still unknown. At this time, officers are not sure if the vehicle collided with something or if it rolled. They do know that it was a single-vehicle collision, though.

Paramedics did everything they could to try and save the victim, but sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was suspected of intoxication and arrested at the scene. They were first taken to Sierra Vista Regional Hospital, the California Highway Patrol reported.
