Eagle Rock, CA (June 18, 2024) A late night hit-and-run accident left a pedestrian dead in Eagle Rock, California on Thursday night, June 13th. The tragic and senseless accident took place on the 2 Freeway North at approximately 10:15 p.m. The driver fled the scene following the accident, leaving the injured pedestrian behind, according to reports.
A pedestrian walked along the 2 Freeway North, not far from Colorado Boulevard, on Thursday night as vehicles passed with no issues. Suddenly, and for reasons still unknown, a vehicle struck the pedestrian.The force from the impact threw the pedestrian several feet before gravity pulled them back down, landing hard on the ground. Instead of stopping and calling for help, the driver of the vehicle hit the gas and fled the scene, leaving the pedestrian behind with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian on the ground, motionless. Paramedics hurried to the victim’s side, ready to give emergency medical care. Unfortunately, the victim had succumbed to their injuries and, with heavy hearts, authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. With care, they placed a tarp over the victim and called for the coroner to come to the scene.
Officers searched the scene and investigated in an attempt to try and figure out what type of vehicle struck the pedestrian. Officers with the California Highway Patrol are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them with information. They are working as quickly as they can to determine the vehicle involved and, in finding the vehicle, they plan to find the driver responsible as well.
