Visalia, CA (June 17, 2024) The community of Visalia was shocked to learn about a three-vehicle collision that sadly claimed one person’s life on Friday afternoon. The fatal accident occurred at Noble Avenue and Akers Street at approximately 12:20 p.m. and required the Jaws of Life to extricate one person, reports indicated.
Friday afternoon, June 14th, was met with tragedy in Visalia when a three-vehicle collision occurred. Officers at the scene reported that the vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection at Noble Avenue and Akers Street. The force from the impact sent one of the vehicles slamming into the wall under the Highway 198 overpass, according to reports. The collision left the intersection obstructed, causing traffic to back up in every direction.
The 911 call was received and emergency crews with the California Highway Patrol and the Visalisa Police Department arrived at the scene within minutes. The Visalia Fire Department arrived and had to use the Jaws of Life or free one person from their vehicle. Thankfully, the victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital where they are expected to make a full recovery.
Another victim in the collision wasn’t as lucky, though. The driver was found behind the wheel, unresponsive. Paramedics did everything they could to try and save the person, but their injuries were too extensive. Paramedics finally had to pronounce the victim dead at the scene and call for the coroner, reports indicated.
The California Highway Patrol is leading this investigation. They are working to put the pieces together and discover exactly what happened at this Visalia intersection. They are also determined to discover who was at fault in this deadly accident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the CHP. Following the investigation, officers worked to clear the intersection of debris and glass, as well as the three damaged vehicles. Traffic was then able to resume, reports indicated.
