Palm Springs, CA (May 27, 2024) The community of Palm Springs was left under a cloud of sadness following a collision that killed two people, including a 4-year-old boy. The single-vehicle crash took place on Highway 62, near Interstate 10 right around 7:30 p.m., according to reports. The accident also left three other people with injuries as the driver lost control, went off the road and collided with trees.

It was Sunday evening, May 26th, in Palm Springs as a 28-year-old man drove a vehicle along Highway 62. A 4-year-old boy, a woman and two other children were passengers inside the vehicle as it traveled along the highway. For reasons that are still unknown, the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road, hitting a group of trees at a fairly high rate of speed, near the I-10 interchange.

The California Highway Patrol arrived along with Cal Fire and found the vehicle against the group of trees on the side of the highway. The vehicle had sustained major damage in the collision and paramedics rushed to give aid to anyone in need. Tragically, they found the 28-year-old driver and the 4-year-old boy deceased inside the vehicle. With heavy hearts, they pronounced them both dead at the scene.

A woman and two other children were found inside the vehicle with moderate, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports. Paramedics carefully placed all three in ambulances and transported them to a local hospital to receive further medical attention for their injuries.

Officers investigated the scene and gathered evidence to try and determine what caused this fatal collision. The accident remains under investigation, according to reports. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the damaged vehicle.
