San Luis Obispo, CA (May 24, 2024) 49-year-old San Luis Obispo resident, Jose Peralta, and 52-year-old Paso Robles resident, Donald Avery Jr., were both killed on May 15th in a horrible car accident. It all happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Beach Street and Pismo Street in San Luis Obispo, according to reports. Two other people were injured in this two-vehicle collision.

Darkness had fallen over San Luis Obispo as vehicles traveled, guided by headlights. Jose Peralta was behind the wheel of a vehicle, heading south on Beach Street. As he approached the intersection of Pismo Street, he failed to stop at the stop sign, according to reports. He drove into the intersection and crashed into another vehicle. The force from the collision caused Peralta’s car to roll several times before coming to a stop. The other vehicle sustained major damage, but remained on its wheels.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene within minutes and found the two damaged vehicles. A trail of glass and debris led to Peralta’s vehicle, which was completely wrecked. Paramedics hurried to the vehicle, ready to help, only to find that both Peralta and his passenger, Avery, had been thrown from the vehicle during the collision. They administered life-saving measures and did everything they could to save the two men, but they eventually succumbed to their injuries. Sadly, both Peralta and Avery were pronounced dead at the scene by officials.

Paramedics found a third passenger in Peralta’s vehicle who survived the collision with only minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a woman, sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries in the accident and was rushed to a local hospital via ambulance where she is expected to make a full recovery.

Detectives gathered evidence and investigated the scene. They believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to this fatal accident. Tow trucks had to remove both of the damaged vehicles from the intersection and debris and glass had to be swept from the roadway.
