Santa Barbara County, CA (May 23, 2024) News spread quickly on Sunday night following a head-on crash in Santa Barbara County. The collision on Highway 135 left two people with injuries, according to reports. It all happened right around 9:00 p.m. at the Union Valley Parkway intersection in Santa Maria Valley.
A man was driving along Highway 135 under the glow of moonlight around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night. A woman was driving another vehicle, headed in the opposite direction on Highway 135, when the two vehicles suddenly slammed into each other, head-on. Officers still don’t know what exactly happened to cause this crazy accident, but the drivers are lucky to be alive.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department hurried to the scene, lighting the night sky with emergency lights. The California Highway Patrol also responded to the scene. They found the two vehicles with major front-end damage sitting in the middle of Highway 135. Paramedics hurried to the vehicles and found that the drivers were both injured in the collision. Both drivers were loaded into AMR ambulances and rushed to Marian Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for their injuries. Neither vehicle had passengers, reports indicated.
The accident is being investigated by the CHP Santa Maria Station. They are diligently working to determine what caused this head-on crash on Highway 135 and which driver was responsible. Both vehicles sustained major damage and had to be hauled from the scene by tow trucks. The collision tossed glass and debris in every direction and crews worked to clean it all up so motorists could resume driving.
