North County San Diego, CA (May 22, 2024) A rollover collision on northbound Interstate 15 on Tuesday morning, claimed the life of one person and left another with serious injuries. Just after 6:30 a.m. on May 21st, near Dear Springs Road, not far from Valley Center, according to CalFire Capt. Mike Conrette.
A pickup truck with a driver and one passenger was traveling north on Interstate 15 when the vehicle suddenly crashed and began to roll. As the pickup rolled, one of the occupants was thrown, reports indicated. The vehicle finally stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate.

Emergency crews hurried to the scene and found the pickup with extensive damage from rolling. They located the person who had been thrown and found them unresponsive. Paramedics did everything they could but, in the end, they had to pronounce the victim dead at the scene. The other occupants of the pickup sustained serious injuries in the collision and were rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment.
Officers had to block one of the right lanes on the interstate as they investigated the scene. A trail of debris led to the damaged pickup truck, which had also taken out a green freeway sign. Officers are not sure what caused the pickup truck to roll. They hope to put all of the pieces together soon and understand what caused this tragic rollover accident on Interstate 15.
