Riverside, CA (May 13, 2024) It was in the middle of the night in Riverside when a vehicle crashed into a Garden Grove home. The collision claimed the life of 40-year-old Janet Carrillo, leaving her trapped under the vehicle. This tragic and chaotic accident took place just minutes before 2:00 a.m. on Magnolia Street, police officers said. The driver of the vehicle was arrested following this collision.
Police officers received numerous calls about a hit-and-run driver in the middle of the night on May 12th. Officers hurried to the scene and found bystanders waiting for them. They pointed down the road to the suspect who had fled after crashing into a house. Officers apprehended the suspect, identified as a 35-year-old man from Riverside, and brought him back to the scene.
The driver had been driving along Magnolia Street when he lost control of his 2019 Toyota Camry. The Toyota went off the road, through a yard and crashed into a house in the 11800 block of Magnolia Street. Officers found the vehicle partially inside the residence and hurried to see if anyone had been injured.

They found Carrillo, who lived in the house, trapped under the vehicle, reports indicated. The vehicle had to be removed from the house to free Carrillo. Paramedics were ready to give life-saving measures, but there was nothing they could do. Sadly, she had received fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers placed the man under arrest and he not only faces hit-and-run charges but also DUI and manslaughter charges following this accident. He was placed in an Orange County jail, officers said.
