McFarland, CA (May 13, 2024) A horrible accident occurred in McFarland on Highway 99, claiming the life of a 21-year-old Vacaville woman. The fatal accident happened at approximately 8:21 p.m. on Saturday, May 11th, near Sherwood Avenue. The driver was a 17-year-old who was under the influence of drugs. He was arrested following the collision.
A 17-year-old from Compton was driving north on Highway 99 in McFarland on Saturday evening. As they headed down the highway, the vehicle swerved off the roadway and crashed into a raised embankment of dirt and rock. The vehicle then flipped over several times before coming to a stop on its roof.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the vehicle in its room, completely smashed. A trail of glass and debris following the vehicle from the road, like a trail. Paramedics rushed to the overturned vehicle and found that the 21-year-old passenger had been killed in the accident. Sadly, they pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old, was found with serious injuries. They were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries following the collision. Officers discovered that the driver was under the influence of drugs during the accident. They also discovered that the 17-year-old was driving without a valid California driver’s license. Officers arrested the driver for driving under the influence of drugs, vehicular manslaughter and for not having a valid driver’s license. He was booked into Kern County Juvenile Hall Detention Center, according to reports.
