Reno, NV (May 11, 2024) A traumatic accident took place in Reno on Thursday, May 9th. A motorcyclist collided with a Jeep on McCarran Boulevard, near Clear Acre Lane, according to reports. The motorcyclist survived the ordeal, but authorities said he lost a leg in the accident. The traumatic event happened right around 7:30 p.m., according to the Reno Police Department.
A motorcyclist was riding east on McCarran Boulevard on Thursday evening, just west of Clear Acre. The rider, identified only as a man, was driving past driveways to private residences with no issues and no second thoughts. Suddenly, a Jeep pulled out of a private driveway onto eastbound McCarran, directly in the path of the motorcycle. The rider had not time to react and crashed into the Jeep, reports indicated. The impact threw the rider from the motorcycle and he sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the beaten and dented motorcycle lying on the ground. The Jeep was stopped at the scene and the driver was waiting for police officers to arrive. Paramedics found the motorcycle rider on the ground with serious injuries, including a traumatic injury to one of his legs. He was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment and authorities said that while his injuries don’t appear to be fatal, the victim will lose his leg.
The driver of the Jeep cooperated with officers during their investigation. They had to close McCarran Boulevard near Clear Acre Lane for several house as they gathered evidence and investigated this accident. The motorcycle was hauled from the scene and crews swept up the debris that was left behind. Officers said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in this collision. The investigation is ongoing.
