Lancaster, CA (May 3, 2024) – The tranquility of a morning drive near Lancaster was shattered by a devastating two-vehicle collision, leaving one woman dead and three others injured. The California Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred around 7:25 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of state Route 138 and 90th Street West.
Preliminary investigations revealed a 2005 Toyota, traveling southbound on 90th Street West, collided with a 2015 Freightliner truck heading westbound on SR 138. The impact of the collision tragically claimed the life of the Toyota’s driver, identified as Sherril Joanne Del Rosso, 66, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
In the aftermath of the crash, two juvenile passengers from the Toyota sustained major injuries and were airlifted to Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center for treatment.
CHP Officer Monique Mischeaux stated that alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be contributing factors in the crash. However, investigations into the exact cause of the collision are ongoing.
