Las Vegas, NV (April 28, 2024) A tragic accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist in the Southwest Valley area of Las Vegas. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of S. Jones Boulevard and Badura Avenue. Another person was injured in this motorcycle versus vehicle accident, reports indicated.
A 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle was heading north on S. Jones Boulevard as a 2019 Mazda MPV was heading south. Both vehicles approached the intersection of Badura Avenue at approximately the same time. The Mazda attempted a left turn, but misjudged the motorcyclist’s speed. The motorcycle slammed into the right side of the Mazda, throwing the rider from the motorcycle.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and found the motorcyclist lying on the ground, motionless. The motorcycle was severely damaged and laying several feet from its rider. The Mazda had sustained damage to the right side and debris littered the roadway. Paramedics rushed to the motorcyclist’s side and found that they had sustained life-threatening injuries. They were rushed to UMC by ambulance, where they later succumbed to their injuries. A Trauma doctor at UMC pronounced the victim dead at the hospital, according to reports.
The driver of the Mazda had also sustained injuries during the collision and was transported to UMC to receive treatment. Officers said that they don’t believe the driver of the Mazda was intoxicated at the time of this fatal collision in the Southwest Valley. The Collision Investigation Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is leading this investigation.
