Las Vegas, NV (April 28, 2024) Sadness swept through the East Valley on Saturday morning, April 27th, following a collision that claimed two lives. 33-year-old Cecilia Fuentes and 24-year-old Anthony Palma were both killed in this Vegas collision. The fiery accident happened just after midnight on East Sahara Avenue, not far from the Voyage Cove intersection, according to reports. The single-vehicle accident caused the car to quickly catch on fire, officers said.

Officers received the call about a single-vehicle accident at approximately 12:13 a.m. on Saturday, April 27th. A Toyota was said to be driving east on East Sahara Avenue at a high rate of speed. Suddenly, the vehicle ran a red light and smashed into a concrete Jersey Barrier. Officers reported that the vehicle hit the barrier so hard, that it moved the barrier from its position. The Toyota then caught on fire.

The Clark County Fire Department rushed to the scene and found the burning vehicle and quickly put out the flames. They found Fuentes and Palma inside the Toyota, but upon further evaluation, firefighters discovered that both occupants had sustained fatal injuries in the crash. With heavy hearts, they pronounced both victims dead at the scene and waited for the coroner.

Debris had to be cleaned from the roadway and a tow truck was called to remove the wreckage from the scene. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that this accident marks the 55th and 56th traffic death in the Las Vegas area so far in 2024.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section is leading the investigation into this fatal accident. They are determined to understand what caused the Toyota to lose control and crash, claiming two lives, in the East Valley.
