Shasta County, CA (April 24, 2024) 74-year-old Diana Floyd was tragically killed on April 20th when a trailer detached from a truck and struck her. The fatal accident occurred right around 4:00 p.m.on Deschutes Road, at Ball’s Ferry Mini Storage.

Floyd was inside an Anderson home at Ball’s Ferry Mini Storage as a truck, pulling a flatbed trailer, was driving along Deschutes Road. Suddenly, the trailer detached from the truck and slammed into the Anderson home. It hit Floyd in the process and did a lot of damage to the property, officers reported.

The California Highway Patrol Redding Office arrived at the scene and found the trailer partially inside the damaged building. Paramedics rushed to see if anyone had been injured and found Floyd. Paramedics loaded her into an ambulance and rushed to to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with life-threatening injuries. Floyd held on for a while, but sadly succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officers continue to investigate this accident and are determined to figure out why the trailer detached from the truck. No one else was injured in this accident at Ball’s Ferry Mini Storage. The trailer had to be removed from the building following the initial investigation.
