Amador County, CA (April 22, 2024) A tragic, multi-vehicle collision occured in Amador County, claiming one person’s life and injuring three others. According to reports, the accident took place on Highway 88, near Silver Drive at approximately 6:00 p.m. It happened in the small community of Pioneer, which is about 30 miles northeast of San Andreas.
Multiple vehicles collided for unknown reasons on Friday evening, April 19th. The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene along with Amador Fire and found several vehicles damaged from a collision. Paramedics hurried to find occupants in each of the vehicles and help anyone who needed it. Sadly, they found one person who had sustained fatal injuries during the collision. They were pronounced dead at the scene and officers called for the coroner.
Paramedics found two other people with serious injuries. They were carefully loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment. A third person sustained life-threatening injuries in this multi-vehicle collision. Paramedics called for an air ambulance and the victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital to receive emergency treatment for critical injuries.
Officers had to close Highway 88 in both directions following the collision. Motorists were diverted to a nearby road that took them on a detour back to the highway, authorities reported. Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the scene and glass and debris were cleaned from the road. Officers are investigating this collision to determine what caused it and who was at fault.
