Llano, CA (April 22, 2024) Vehicles drove along Highway 18 through Antelope Valley in Llano on Sunday afternoon, when two vehicles suddenly collided, according to reports. The two-vehicle accident left four people injured, two of which were said to be in critical condition. A dog was also in one of the vehicles and sustained injuries, officers said. It happened at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 21st on Highway 18 at 248th Street.

A silver Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Tacoma collided in the intersection, officers reported. The cause of the accident is still unknown, but officers said the two vehicles collided, head-on. The Los Angeles County Fire Department received the call and hurried to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the two vehicles with major damage in the middle of the roadway and debris was thrown in all directions. Paramedics checked both vehicles and found four people and a dog with injuries.

Two of the injured people had sustained life-threatening injuries, reports indicated. Paramedics called for helicopters to come to the scene and take the four victims to a hospital for treatment. The Los Angeles County Fire Department battalion chief told City News Service that two of the victims were listed in critical condition.

Officers called Animal Control in regards to the dog that was injured in the crash. They took the dog to receive medical care for injuries sustained in this two-vehicle collision.

Highway 18 had to be closed in both directions following the accident. Investigators gathered evidence and are determined to learn what caused this accident and who was at fault. Crews had to clean debris and glass from the roadway and officers had to call tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles from the highway.
