Kings County, CA (April 15, 2024) Driving is a serious task and we all know that one false move can lead to disaster. Such a tragedy occurred in Kings County over the weekend. Two people lost their lives in a collision that happened due to a missed turn, officers reported. It took place on Grangeville Boulevard, not far from 25th Street, on Saturday, April 13th.

A white Ford Fusion sedan headed west on Grangeville Boulevard on a dark, California night. The Fusion was driven by a woman and a man sat in the front passenger seat.  They were just outside of the city of Lemoore, around 10:30 p.m., when the driver began to make a turn. However, she missed the turn and ended up crashing into a guardrail. Within minutes of the collision, the Ford Fusion caught on fire, reports indicated. The fire began to quickly grow, engulfing the vehicle.

The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the vehicle on the side of the road near a guardrail, on fire. Firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly put out the flames. Smoke filled the night air and water dripped from the burning vehicle as firefighters quickly searched for survivors. Sadly, both the female driver and the male passenger were found deceased inside the vehicle. They were both pronounced dead at the scene and officers called the coroner.

Officers gathered evidence and investigated the scene to determine what exactly happened. At this time, they are unsure if drugs or alcohol were factors in this fatal accident. Crews had to clean debris and brunt metal from the roadside and the destroyed Ford Fusion had to be hauled from the scene.
