San Diego, CA (March 18, 2024) An accident in the University neighborhood of San Diego left a 19-year-old motorcyclist with major, but non-life-threatening injuries on Saturday, March 16th. The crash occurred when the motorcycle collided with a car, according to officers.
It was just before 1:30 p.m. on Saturday as a 2010 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 32-year-old man, pulled onto Regents Road. As he pulled onto the road, a 19-year-old on a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle was heading down Regents. The Toyota pulled out directly into the path of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to crash into the Toyota.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the 19-year-old on the ground with serious injuries. He had sustained open fractures to his left femur and tibia/fibula, officials said. He was taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance to receive treatment for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this accident and have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. They are actively investigating this accident and hope to determine what happened on Regents Road.
