Pomona, CA (March 3, 2024) Three women lost their lives on Saturday night when they were hit by a drunk driver, officers said. Two other people were seriously injured in this DUI collision that happened right around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Plillips Boulevard and White Avenue. 33-year-old Alejandra Olaez, 33-year-old Yesenia Ochoa and 58-year-old Lorena Morales were killed in this tragic accident.
The Pomona Police Department was called to the scene of a violent and traumatic accident on the night of March 2nd. A man, identified as 36-year-old Victor Siharath, made the decision to drive his SUV even though he was intoxicated, officers reported. This senseless decision changed the lives of so many in an instant. Siharath hit another vehicle as he entered the intersection of Phillips Boulevard and White Avenue, killing two instantly, according to police reports.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found two women who were killed in the collision. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Three other people sustained serious injuries in the crash and were rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment. The medical team at the hospital did everything they could, but unfortunately, one of the victims didn’t survive. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said. The two other injured occupants were identified as 12-year-old Noemi Olaez, who is the daughter of Alejandra Oaez, and Jamie Garcia.
The group was returning home after attending a baby shower, family members told officers, when the horrible collision occurred. Yesenia Ochoa was in the process of adopting her 11-year-old nephew, Brian Gonzalez. He told authorities that Ochoa’s time was too short.
Officers determined that Siharath was intoxicated and placed him under arrest. He faces several charges, including felony drunk driving. The town of Pomona is devastated by this horrible and senseless accident that claimed three lives and injured two other people.
