Turlock, CA (February 26, 2024) It’s true that life can change in an instant. This life lesson was tragically taught to a 17-year-old boy on Sunday afternoon when he decided to get behind the wheel of his car while intoxicated and crashed into a pickup truck. This decision claimed the life of 31-year-old Eileen Ordoniez and now the teenager faces manslaughter charges, officers reported.
The 17-year-old boy from Modesto was driving a red 2013 Buick sedan, heading east on Fulkerth Road. As the vehicle approached a stop sign in an intersection, the teen driver failed to stop. The Buick slammed into a 2004 GMC pickup truck that was hauling a horse trailer, authorities said. The pickup, driven by a 49-year-old man, was trying to make a left turn on Fulkerth Road when he was hit by Buick.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found Eileen Ordoniez in the passenger seat of the Buick. Paramedics rushed to help her and did everything they could, but sadly, Ordoniez was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said. Unfortunately, she wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
Officers at the scene determined that the 17-year-old driver of the Buick was driving under the influence as well as driving with a suspended license. The teenager was placed under arrest and is facing manslaughter charges following this deadly collision in Turlock.
