Rowland Heights, CA (February 26, 2024) A pedestrian was walking in Rowland Heights on Saturday afternoon when they were suddenly struck by a vehicle. The accident took place at Colima Road and Jellick Avenue right around 4:16 p.m., officers reported. Amazingly, the pedestrian survived the ordeal, but was critically injured in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol stated that the pedestrian was in the roadway, for reasons unknown, when they were struck by a vehicle. Officers were dispatched to the unincorporated area of San Gabriel Valley following the 911 call about an accident involving a pedestrian.
The CHP arrived at the scene along with paramedics and found the pedestrian lying in the middle of the road. They were alive, but sustained serious injuries, officers said. Paramedics at the scene quickly, but carefully loaded the pedestrian into the ambulance and rushed them to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center to receive treatment.
Drivers should always proceed through neighborhoods and intersections slowly and with caution as to not hit any children or pedestrians. Pedestrians are also encouraged to be on the lookout for vehicles and to proceed on foot with caution. We can all work together to make our roads safer for drivers and pedestrians alike.
