Reseda, CA (February 26, 2024) Vanowen Street in Reseda looked like a war zone late Sunday morning following a four-vehicle collision that left one man dead. Officers at the scene said that eleven people were involved in this deadly crash and six of them were seriously injured. 32-year-old Francisco Velasco-Marcos sustained fatal injuries in the collision, authorities said.

Initial investigations determined that a white Dodge Charger and a yellow Chevrolet Camaro were speeding down W. Vanowent Street around 11:15 a.m. on Sunday. Suddenly, the Dodge changed lanes and slammed into the Chevrolet, officers reported. Both drivers lost control and began crashing into other vehicles on the road, including two parked vehicles.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at 18153 W. Vanowen Street and found the driver of the Camaro, later identified as Velasco-Marcos, trapped inside his vehicle. Sadly, the 32-year-old man was killed in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.

Two other victims were also trapped inside their vehicles. Firefighters had to use hydraulic tools that are similar to Jaws of Life to get the two victims out of the wreckage. In the end, paramedics ended up evaluating eleven victims following this deadly accident. Six of the victims were transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for more serious injuries, authorities said.

Officers reported that the collision also damaged a fire hydrant, which firefighters had to shut off at the scene.

21-year-old Nicolas Velasco Marcos was arrested at the scene following the collision, officers said. He is facing murder charges and a $2 million bail, according to authorities.
