Oakland, CA (February 2, 2024) One person lost their life on the Interstate 580 Freeway on Thursday night, February 1st. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 8:12 p.m. at the West MacArthur Boulevard and San Pablo off-ramps in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Richmond Police Department reported to the scene and found a gray 2018 Hyundai Elantra and a Porsche SUV that had both been involved in a collision. Officers were forced to shut down the eastbound lanes of I-580, as well as the MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp. Paramedics at the scene rushed to help one person who sustained life-threatening injuries during the crash. Sadly, there was nothing they could do and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
