Huntington Park, CA (February 1, 2024) – Today, somberness sweeps the city of Huntington Park as a suspected hit-and-run collision claims the life of 68-year-old Maria Castellanos.

At approximately 2:08 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers rushed to the intersection of East Florence Avenue and Pacific Boulevard in response to a distressing call. Upon arrival, they discovered Maria Castellanos, 68-years-old, who had been crossing Pacific Boulevard when she was struck by a vehicle.

Despite the swift response of Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics, who arrived at the scene promptly, Maria ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on-site. The sudden loss has left the community in shock and mourning, grappling with the devastating impact of this senseless tragedy.

Evidence left at the scene suggests that the vehicle involved in the collision may have been a black car. Assuming the driver fled the scene, the uncertainty only adds to the anguish and frustration felt by both authorities and residents alike.
