San Bernardino County, CA (January 27, 2024) Two people tragically lost their lives on a dark, California highway on Friday night, authorities said. The devastating collision occurred on State Route 95, right on the California-Arizona state line, just before 11:30 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol rushed to the scene and found that a black Audi A6 and another, unknown, vehicle had collided head-on. The vehicles sat in the middle of the highway, both immobilized and badly damaged, reports indicated. Glass and debris littered the dark roadway as officers hurried to help those involved. Flash lights shown into car windows revealed the worst; no one had survived this deadly head-on collision.

After assessing the horrible scene, the California Highway Patrol called the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office and requested a coroner. The tragic accident forced officials to close a portion of the highway for a while as they dealt with the aftermath of this tragedy. A Toe Truck, which is a towing service in the area, was called to the scene to help remove the severely destroyed vehicles from the highway. The California Highway Patrol said that both vehicles would be retained as evidence as they work to learn more about what happened on that January night.

Officials had to coordinate and work together following this violent, head-on collision on State Route 95. Investigators searched the scene for any evidence that could help them decipher what caused this deadly accident. Crews worked together, in the dark, to clean the debris, glass and liquid, left behind by the crash.

Investigators are working diligently to try and determine who was at fault in this fatal crash that took two lives on the California-Arizona state line.
