Fresno County, CA (January 15th, 2024) 78-year-old Fresno resident, John Tarter, was killed in a head-on DUI crash in Fresno County on Saturday, January 13th. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Marina Drive and Millerton Road, according to authorities. Two other people were injured in this fatal collision, near Table Mountain, as well.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by 35-year-old Ryan Matthew Wayne Trevino, was heading west on Millerton road. John Tarter was also on Millerton Road, driving east, in a white Toyota Tundra. Suddenly, Trevino swerved onto the shoulder of the road before over-correcting his Silverado pickup. He swerved into the eastbound lane right in front of Tarter’s Toyota. Tarter had no time to react before the two vehicles collided, head-on.

A passenger in Tarter’s car was also injured in the head-on collision. They were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

Trevino was also injured in the accident and authorities said he is currently in the hospital with serious injuries. Officers believe that Trevino was driving while under the influence. He faces charges of murder after this head-on tragically crash took Tarter’s life.
