Indio, CA (December 12, 2023) Coachella resident, Fernando Cruz, Jr., 39, was struck and killed in Indio on December 9th, authorities said. The fatal accident occurred on Vista Del Norte, just west of Dillon Road, shortly after 11:00 a.m.
A vehicle was heading west on Vista Del Norte when it hit a pedestrian, according to reports. The pedestrian, later identified as Cruz, was on the roadway between Dillon Road and Golf Center Parkway.

The Riverside County Fire Department sent paramedics to the scene to give aid to Cruz. When they arrived, they found him lying on the road, unresponsive. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures on Cruz, but he was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside County Sheriff Coroner was called, who later identified Cruz.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Cruz remained at the scene and cooperated with officers during their investigation. Officials are still unsure as to what exactly happened to cause this fatal accident on Vista Del Norte in Indio. They are still investigating this accident and hope to determine what caused this tragic collision.
