Fresno, CA (November 14, 2023) One person was killed and another seriously injured in a one-vehicle rollover collision in Fresno on Monday, November 13th. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene for suspicion of DUI, according to the Fresno Police Department.
A 29-year-old man was driving a 2004 Mercedes Coupe on Airways Boulevard, just south of Dakota Avenue on Monday, according to Fresno Police Department Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega. They were traveling at a high rate of speed as they reached a curve in the road. At approximately 6:00 a.m., the car reached the curve and the driver lost control. Officers reported that the car went off the road, hit a fire hydrant and two light poles before overturning.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found that Guadalupe Ramirez, age 20, from Fresno had been thrown from the vehicle. He was already deceased when paramedics arrived; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old woman was riding as one of the passengers in the vehicle and sustained critical injuries in the crash. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital where she was admitted to surgery for a skull fracture and severe leg injuries, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Authorities noticed that the driver seemed impaired and discovered that he had been driving under the influence at the time of the crash. He was arrested at the scene for suspicion of felony DUI and felony vehicular manslaughter, according to officials.
