Dulzura, CA (November 8, 2023) Two people were injured on Monday, November 6th, when their car collided with a big rig in the Dulzura area, according to authorities. Brent Pascua with the Cal Fire San Diego, said the accident happened at approximately 3:46 p.m. at the intersection of Otay Lakes Road and Campo Road.
Fire fighters arrived at the scene to find the car laying on its roof with one person trapped inside. They were quickly able to free the victim from the car and both occupants of the vehicle were loaded into ambulances and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Medical personnel said they sustained moderate injuries and should make a full recovery.

Cal Fire San Diego said that, after further investigation of the accident, it seems the car collided with the semi-truck and then crashed into the guard rail. This caused the car to flip over onto its roof, where it finally came to a stop.
Officers had to close one lane of Highway 94 due to fire equipment blocking the road. A tow truck was called to remove the damaged car from the scene and crews had to clean up debris and glass from the area. A sign was also knocked down during the collision; it and the guard rail will have to be repaired or replaced.
There were no reports of injuries to the driver of the big rig. Authorities are still investigating this collision to determine what caused this accident in Dulzura.
