Santa Barbara, CA (October 31, 2023) – A man tragically lost his life on Saturday, October 28th, after a major pedestrian crash on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara, California. According to local new source, KSBY, the accident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on the Castillo Street off ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2015 Honda Accord had taken the southbound Castillo Street exit and accidentally struck the victim who was crossing the road at that time. It is unknown what the victim was doing in the road.
Paramedics were quickly called to the scene to help the man, who had sustained major injuries. They provided immediate medical attention and transported him to the hospital. Sadly he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the Honda and his two passengers were unharmed. They stopped responsibly and cooperated with authorities in their investigation.
Police are investigating the pedestrian crash on Highway 101. At this time they do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
