Santa Cruz County, CA (October 24, 2023) – A cyclist was seriously injured on Tuesday, October 24th, after being involved in a bicycle accident on Soquel drive in Santa Cruz County. The accident occurred at approximately 7:47 a.m. at the intersection with Aptos Hill Lane outside the town of Aptos.
According to the California Highway Patrol a vehicle struck the bicyclist at the intersection, due to unknown circumstances. The rider was thrown over his handlebars by the collision where he landed on the road. The impact and the landing caused major injury to the rider, including a reported head injury. Reports indicate the rider was also having difficulty breathing following the accident.

911 was called again to request an ambulance to the scene. Paramedics arrived to assist the cyclist and transport them to the hospital.
The driver involved in the crash stayed on scene and cooperated with police questioning. The bicycle accident on Soquel Drive is still under investigation by authorities.
