Chico, CA (October 17, 2023) One person was injured early Tuesday morning in a collision on 9th Street in Chico, according to officers. The Chico Police Department received the call around 5:00 a.m. on October 17th.

The collision happened off of Orient Street where white Jetta crashed into the rear of a parked pickup truck. The driver of the Jetta suffered minor injuries and was taken to Enloe Medical Center. The Chico Police Department had to close part of 9th Street to wait for a tow truck to remove the damaged Jetta. The Jetta was wedged under the pickup and it took crews several attempts to get it unstuck.
Since the pickup truck was parked at the curb, no one was inside during this collision, the pickup did sustain damage in the crash. Officers said the driver of the Jetta was not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They are still investigating to determine what happened on 9th Street in Chico.
