San Diego, CA (October 15, 2023) A pedestrian was struck and killed on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway early Sunday morning. The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 1:45 in the morning at the Wilmington Avenue off-ramp.

According to authorities, a male pedestrian was walking with the flow of traffic on the right shoulder of the freeway. He was wearing a gray shirt and blue pants, making him difficult to see in the dark. He was struck by a dark-colored Honda Civic.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the man lying in the slow lane of the freeway, unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are investigating this collision to understand what actually occurred.
