LOS BANOS, CA (OCTOBER 14, 2023): Three people, including an infant, were killed in a crash on Highway 140 in Merced Saturday.
The California Highway Patrol reports that 40-year-old Robert Pimentel was driving a Ford Explorer east on the highway when he began drifting. Reports indicate that Pimentel attempted to correct the vehicle but instead veered across the double yellow lines, striking a Ford Expedition with seven occupants.

The 67-year-old driver, a 69-year-old passenger, and a baby were killed in the collision.
Pimentel and four other passengers were transported to the hospital with moderate to major injuries.
Pimentel has been arrested for driving under the influence. Authorities continue to investigate this collision.
