Redding, CA (October 10, 2023) Jorden Wheeler, 43, from Anderson, crashed into a building in Redding on Monday night. The Redding Police Department reported the accident happening around 10:40 p.m. on South Market Street.
Authorities said that Jorden Wheeler is recovering in a local hospital after he went on a joy ride and caused quite a bit of chaos. Police officers said they were called to Wonderland Signs Inc., a business on South Market Street, for a report of a car crashing into the building.

Upon arrival, emergency crews witnessed a destructive scene. A gray Mazda 3 had been traveling south on South Market Street when it suddenly left the roadway and crashed into a fire hydrant. The vehicle didn’t stop there, though. It continued forward, taking down some fencing and hitting 2 unoccupied parked vehicles. All of that still didn’t slow it down as the car sped on, until slamming against Wonderland Signs, Inc., where it finally came to a stop.
Wheeler was injured in the crash and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Officers reported that Wheeler showed signs of drug impairment and they believe he was under the influence of a controlled substance. The Redding Police Department learned that Wheeler was arrested previously on Friday, October 6th, and his Mazda was impounded. Authorities say Wheeler recovered his Mazda from the impound lot about an hour before this accident took place.
