SUNNYVALE, CA (AUGUST 29, 2023): Two people are dead after a tragic wrong-way crash on Highway 237 in Sunnyvale early Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 4 a.m., just east of the Mathilda Avenue offramp. A silver 2021 Honda Civic traveling eastbound on westbound lanes struck a red 2017 Honda Civic.

Both drivers were killed in the collision. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle is described as a Hispanic male in his mid 20’s to early 30’s. The second driver was described as a white male also in his mid 20’s to early 30’s.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate this wrong-way crash on Highway 237 in Sunnyvale.
