FRESNO COUNTY, CA (AUGUST 5, 2023): The pedestrian killed in a tragic hit-and-run late last month in Fresno has been identified as 60-year-old David Sisneros Diaz. The incident occurred on July 26 on Bishop and Shield Avenue in rural Fresno County, leaving Diaz lying in the roadway. It was unclear if he was struck by multiple vehicles.

Authorities have detained 32-year-old Santiago Ambriz-Cervantez, who was spotted checking on Diaz before fleeing the scene. Witnesses followed Ambriz’s vehicle–a 20120 Honda Pilot–home, where Fresno authorities detained him. He is charged with the fatal hit-and-run and faces his first court date on August 9th.
