Riverside, CA (August 2, 2023) A collision on Interstate 10 ended with a big rig catching on fire in the Cactus City area of Riverside. California Highway Patrol said the collision was reported around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, near the Cactus City Rest Area offramp.
CHP said the combination truck and trailer caught on fire after the collision, blocking both lanes of I-10 westbound. The California Department of Transportation was on the scene and a long-term road closure was expected. Traffic was diverted into the rest area and back onto the interstate.
California Highway Patrol remained at the scene to help clear it and to also investigate what caused the collision.
