(Norwalk, California) On September 10th, multiple people were injured and one dies following a two tractor-trailers crash on I-5 Freeway in Norwalk.
According to the California Highway Patrol Sgt. Christian Steven, the crash occurred at approximately 12:09 a.m. on Tuesday. When the collision first occurred, one semi-truck, carrying an Amazon Prime trailer rear-ended a Ford Van traveling 35mph. Because of the impact, the van went on the 4th lane and hit a stopped Nissan, from then on, the Nissan struck a Toyota vehicle. This led the van to overturn, injuring a passenger who later died at the UC Irvine Medical Center.
The passenger of the van was a 37-year-old male from Japan whose identity has not been released to the public while 53-year-old male van driver was experiencing crucial pains and was also sent to the hospital, according to CHP Officer Zachary Salazar. The semi-truck driver was only identified as a 50-year-old male from New Jersey.
The Southbound lanes of the L-5 freeway were temporarily closed except the carpool lanes. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

This law prohibits all drivers from driving under the influence of any alcoholic beverages as well as driving under the influence of a BAC of 0.04% or more, by weight, of alcohol.
