(Tucson, AZ) A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with critical but stable injuries Monday, January 26, after being struck by a truck at a busy intersection in a Flowing Wells Road crash.

Deputies said the collision occurred at the intersection of Flowing Wells Road and Roger Road. First responders arrived to find a pedestrian who had been hit by a truck and suffered from serious injuries.

Paramedics provided emergency care at the scene before transporting the pedestrian to a hospital. The sheriff’s department described the pedestrian’s injuries initially as as critical, but currently in stable condition. Authorities did not release the pedestrian’s name, age, or gender.

Deputies did not provide details about how the collision occurred or whether the pedestrian used a crosswalk at the time. Authorities have not released information about the direction of travel of the truck, speed, or visibility conditions.

Officers closed the intersection of Flowing Wells Road and Roger Road for several hours while deputies investigated the crash. The roadway later reopened after the preliminary investigation was completed.

Analysis on the Flowing Wells Road Crash

When a pedestrian is seriously injured at an intersection, investigators review traffic safety laws to understand what factors may have contributed, without assigning fault prematurely. These reviews often focus on right-of-way, driver attentiveness, and speed in high-traffic areas.

Because the collision occurred at an intersection, investigators may examine the Pedestrian Right-of-Way Law. This law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians within marked or unmarked crosswalks at intersections. Determining whether the pedestrian was crossing lawfully is often a key part of these investigations.

Authorities may also review the Reasonable and Prudent Speed Law. This law requires drivers to operate at speeds that are reasonable for traffic, visibility, and roadway conditions. Even when a vehicle is traveling below the posted speed limit, speed that is unsafe for conditions can reduce reaction time and increase injury severity.

If traffic signals or turning movements were involved, investigators could consider the Traffic Control Signal Law. This law governs how drivers must respond to traffic signals and proceed only when it is safe. Intersections like Flowing Wells and Roger often involve multiple turning movements, which can increase risk for pedestrians when timing or awareness breaks down. Together, these statutes help investigators evaluate what may have led to the Flowing Wells Road crash as evidence continues to be reviewed.

    Support for the Family

If you are related to the injured pedestrian or are supporting their family, staying in contact with investigators can help you receive updates and obtain the official crash report when it becomes available.

You may also consider speaking with a legal professional experienced in serious pedestrian injury cases to better understand your options. Focusing on medical recovery, follow-up care, and emotional support can be important steps during a stressful and uncertain time.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
