(Long Beach, CA) A man was killed early Tuesday morning, November 11, in a 10th Street accident after his car was struck by another vehicle while attempting a U-turn.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of 10th Street and Orange Avenue. Investigators said a black 2023 Nissan Rogue traveled eastbound on 10th Street. At some point, it collided with a black 2000 Honda Accord attempting to make a U-turn from the south curb.

When officers arrived, they found the driver of the Accord unconscious in the driver’s seat. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

The driver of the Rogue remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said that neither distracted driving nor intoxication appeared to be factors in the crash. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family. Anyone with information is urged to contact the LBPD Collision Investigation Detail at 562-570-7355.

Overview on the 10th Street Accident

When a crash occurs during a U-turn maneuver, investigators typically examine the Turning and Right-of-Way Law. This law requires drivers to ensure that a U-turn can be made safely and without interfering with other traffic. If visibility was limited or traffic was approaching quickly, those factors could have contributed to the collision.

The Basic Speed Law may also be reviewed to determine whether either driver was traveling at a speed unsafe for conditions. Even modest speeds can make avoiding an unexpected turning vehicle difficult, especially in early morning darkness.

In addition, the Duty of Care Law emphasizes that all drivers must yield to oncoming traffic before turning or entering a roadway. These laws will help investigators assess how the 10th Street accident occurred and who may have had the legal right-of-way.

    Support for the Family

You should stay in contact with the Long Beach Police Department for updates on the case and to request the official collision report when it becomes available. This report can provide important clarity about how the crash unfolded.

When you are ready, consider consulting an attorney experienced in wrongful-death and vehicle-collision cases. They can help explain your family’s legal rights and potential next steps toward accountability.

Most importantly, take time to care for yourself and your loved ones. Lean on family, friends, and local grief-support resources in Long Beach as you navigate the loss and remember the life of your loved one.

If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
