(Claremont, CA) A San Bernardino Freeway collision involving multiple vehicles resulted in the death of Alejandra Rubio, 27, early Saturday morning, November 8.

According to Officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol, authorities received reports of the crash at about 3:16 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway near the Indian Hill Boulevard exit. When officers arrived, they found one person trapped inside a vehicle following a collision between a Toyota and a pickup truck.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced Rubio dead at the scene. Authorities issued a SigAlert for the closure of four westbound lanes and the Indian Hill Boulevard exit while CHP officers investigated and cleared the scene. Traffic was backed up for several hours before all lanes reopened.

Overview on the San Bernardino Freeway Collision

In multi-vehicle crashes like this, investigators often begin with the Basic Speed Law. It requires all motorists to drive at a speed that is reasonable and safe for conditions, such as darkness, traffic flow, or weather. Driving too fast for conditions can easily lead to rear-end or side-impact collisions on the freeway.

If the collision involved unsafe merging or changing lanes, the Unsafe Lane Change Law may also apply. This law prohibits turning or moving from a lane until the movement can be made safely, and failure to do so is a common factor in freeway crashes.

Additionally, if driver distraction played a role, investigators may review compliance with California’s Distracted Driving Law, which bans handheld device use while operating a vehicle. Each of these statutes will help CHP determine what caused the San Bernardino Freeway collision and whether any violations contributed to Ms. Rubio’s death.

    Support for Rubio’s Family

If you are related to Alejandra Rubio, you should remain in contact with the California Highway Patrol’s Baldwin Park office for updates on the investigation and for assistance in obtaining the official collision report once it becomes available. This report can help clarify how the crash unfolded.

When you are ready, consider consulting with an attorney who handles freeway and wrongful-death cases. They can help your family understand your rights and potential next steps as the investigation continues.

Above all, take care of yourself and your loved ones during this difficult time. Lean on family, friends, and grief-support resources in the Los Angeles County area as you honor and remember Alejandra Rubio.
