(Palmdale, CA) A woman in her 40s was killed early Saturday morning, November 1, in an Avenue S hit and run after being struck by a sedan whose driver later fled the scene, authorities said.

Investigators said a light blue 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis traveled westbound in the left lane. The driver continued west without stopping or calling for help, deputies said. Paramedics arrived shortly after and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Deputies later located the Mercury and arrested the suspected driver at a Palmdale residence on multiple felony charges. Authorities impounded the vehicle as evidence, and investigators confirmed that alcohol contributed to the fatal crash.
