(Los Angeles, CA) A 110 Freeway accident resulted in the death of Jisela Sifuentes, 35, and left another rider injured Sunday evening in South Los Angeles.

On Sunday, August 31, at approximately 7:25 p.m., the 110 Freeway accident occurred. According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened on the southbound freeway north of Florence Avenue.

The crash involved a motorcycle with two riders and another vehicle. Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded and found Jisela Sifuentes unresponsive. Paramedics assessed Sifuentes’ injuries and pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that another person riding on the motorcycle sustained injuries of unknown severity. Paramedics transported that individual to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The driver of the other involved vehicle stayed at the location and cooperated with investigators.

The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner later confirmed Jisela Sifuentes died from blunt force injuries in the crash. Officials have not yet released the city where she lived. Investigators continue to examine what led to the 110 Freeway accident.

Legal Opinion on the 110 Freeway Accident

A lawyer speaks to a client regarding an accident.

The 110 Freeway accident that killed Jisela Sifuentes highlights serious legal issues under California law. Even though the other driver stayed and cooperated, liability may still exist. Motorcycles receive the same legal protection as other vehicles under. If the crash resulted from an unsafe lane change, California Vehicle Code 22107 could apply. That law requires drivers to signal and move only when safe. A sudden or careless lane shift near a motorcycle can cause deadly consequences. Investigators will also see if speed contributed to the collision. California Vehicle Code 22350, the Basic Speed Law, requires drivers to travel at speeds safe for current conditions. Even when under the posted limit, a driver may still violate the law if road or traffic conditions demand slower driving.

The family of Jisela Sifuentes may pursue a wrongful death claim. California Code of Civil Procedure 377.60 allows close relatives to recover for funeral costs, emotional loss, and financial support the deceased provided. The injured passenger may also bring a personal injury claim. This could cover hospital bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If evidence shows the other vehicle caused the crash, they have a strong case for recovery.

    What the Family Can Do

The family of Jisela Sifuentes should seek a wrongful death attorney immediately. An attorney can obtain the CHP report, secure freeway surveillance footage, and consult accident reconstruction experts. Preserving this evidence quickly is critical. The injured rider should also seek legal guidance. A personal injury attorney can handle medical bills and ensure fair compensation.

While no legal action can bring back Sifuentes, pursuing justice holds the responsible party accountable. It can also provide financial relief and a measure of closure for the family and the injured survivor during this painful time.

We at Accident News Now extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim. We know this is a difficult time as you mourn the tragic and sudden loss of a loved one. If you have any concerns about navigating the legal process surrounding this horrible incident, call 866-883-4318 to speak with a lawyer.
